Season

Brown trout Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge Our fishing season begins in with the ice still out in April, trolling for Brown Trout near the shore waters of the Fair Haven area. Limited catches are the norm, with the average fish weighing 6 to 12 pounds, & quite a few 13 to 14 pound catches daily.

Fair Haven is known as the Brown Trout capital of the world for good reason, as the abundance and size of the fish is second to none. The Spring months of April, May, & June are a fisherman's dream from line screaming shallow water, to tackle testing acrobatic Steelhead and Coho, and of course, the ever popular bulldogging browns. Fair Haven is where it's at.

As the days start to grow longer, & the water starts warming up, we head towards deeper water. The warming water sets up thermo clines, and we target multiple species of fish as the King Salmon becomes our focus.

The Chinook Salmon is called the silver freight train, as it puts up a spectacular fight pealing several hundred yards of line from your rod & reel, and making most anglers feel as if they're going to lose the rod itself. Many battles with these fish will last 15 to 30 minutes - some lasting as long as an hour. With an average size of 18 to 30 pounds, and with fish caught annually in excess of 40 pounds, it's no wonder they're called the "King Salmon."

Coho Salmon & Steelhead Trout are also on the most wanted list, as these fish launch themselves out of the water time & time again, testing the tackle & angler alike. Coho Salmon are similar to their larger relatives, & put up a tremendous fight, weighing in average about 8 to 17 pounds.

And Silver Bullet is the only way to describe the Steelhead Trout, with an average size of 5 to 15 pounds, it leaps and flips on the line, and may spend more time outside the water than in. Deep cold water is the hunting grounds of the lake trout, as it tries to get to the bottom without caring if you come with it. Summer fishing on the Fake Fishing Boat in July, August, and September is awesome with blue skies and warm weather. Smiling faces & sore arms are what it's all about.
